    Franklin County Country Club located in Krakow; Missouri is a Private Country Club looking for an enthusiastic, passionate individual that has outstanding leadership skills, communication skills, and the ability to make quality decisions. Our Horticulturist is going to transition to part time in 2026. The position will be open in the fall of 2025.

    Title: Golf Course Horticulturist

    Location: Franklin County Country Club, Washington, MO

    Type: Full Time (40 hours per week plus opportunity for overtime)

    Compensation: depending on experience

    Duties:

    • Maintain Landscape beds at Clubhouse and throughout golf course.
    • Maintain Clubhouse lawn.
    • Maintain large number of container plantings.
    • Responsible for Clubhouse irrigation system.
    • Trim and prune hedges.
    • Maintain Greenhouse.
    • Implement spring plant sale. Money raised supplements Horticulture budget.
    • Apply fertilizer, soil amendments and pesticides to ornamental plantings.
    • Operate machinery in a safe and responsible manner.
    • Collaborate with supervisors to identify enhancement opportunities and establish long term plans for sites.
    • Perform other golf course jobs daily.
    • Responsible to the golf course Superintendent.

    Job Requirements:

    • 2–4-year degree or experience in horticulture
    • Knowledge of the characteristics, growth habits and proper cultivation of a wide selection of flowering bulbs, annuals, biennials, and perennial plant material, including both herbaceous and woody plants.
    • You must be able to work unsupervised to complete tasks in a timely manner and find creative solutions to problems that may arise.
    • Able to lift 50 lbs.
    • Should be able to train employees in proper horticultural techniques when necessary.
    • Ability to do strenuous work for extended periods of time in a variety of weather conditions.
    • Golf course experience, as well as knowledge of the golf game preferred, but not required.

    We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to help lead the day-to-day maintenance of our courses and to play a key role in supporting the renovation efforts.


    Position Overview

    Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent plays an integral role in executing daily golf course operations, supervising staff, implementing agronomic plans,

    and contributing to long-term projects—including the East Course renovation. This is a hands-on leadership position that offers strong professional development in all aspects of modern golf course management.


    What You’ll Do

    Leadership & Daily Operations

    ● Assist with daily planning and supervision of crew assignments across East and West Courses

    ● Train, mentor, and lead team members to ensure high-quality work and safe operations

    ● Support course setup, mowing, detail work, and execution of agronomic practices


    Renovation & Project Support

    ● Collaborate with the Superintendent and contractors during the East Course renovation, including irrigation installation, drainage upgrades, bunker and green work, and grow-in phases

    ● Help manage logistics and labor in support of renovation activities, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals


    Water Management & Irrigation

    ● Monitor and manage course moisture levels using meters, weather data, and hand-watering

    ● Assist in troubleshooting and operating Toro irrigation systems

    ● Coordinate closely with the Irrigation Tech to maintain consistent system performance


    Agronomy & Turf Health

    ● Scout for turf issues and contribute to pest and disease management strategies

    ● Apply fertilizer and pesticide treatments using GPS-guided sprayers and maintaindetailed records

    ● Participate in the development and implementation of seasonal agronomic plans


    Facility & Equipment Oversight

    ● Ensure proper use and maintenance of turf equipment and tools

    ● Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional maintenance facility


    Qualifications

    ● Certificate, associate, or bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred

    ● 2–4 years of golf course maintenance experience, with prior leadership responsibilities preferred

    ● Missouri pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within 90 days)

    ● Familiarity with irrigation systems

    ● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

    ● Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding, outdoor environment

    ● Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed

    ● Enthusiasm for the game of golf and course presentation

    Irrigation Technician

    Norwood Hills Country Club – St. Louis, MO

    Norwood Hills Country Club is a historic and prestigious 36-hole private facility known for championship-level playing conditions and a legacy of excellence. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Irrigation Technician to join our Grounds Team and take ownership of the operation, maintenance, and improvement of our golf course irrigation systems. This role is essential to delivering high-quality turf conditions across our East and West courses, as well as surrounding landscapes and facilities.

    Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Golf Course Superintendent, the Irrigation Technician is responsible for the performance, repair, and preventative care of all irrigation systems. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge, a solutions-focused mindset, and a willingness to contribute to a team environment. You’ll work closely with the Grounds leadership team and help train staff on best practices in irrigation and water management.


    Key Responsibilities:

    ● Oversee daily operation, inspection, and maintenance of the irrigation systems across both courses and club grounds

    ● Program and monitor central control and satellite units (Toro preferred), ensuring optimal system efficiency

    ● Diagnose and repair heads, valves, pumps, wiring, controllers, sensors, and pipe breaks

    ● Conduct routine pump station checks, logging performance and reporting anomalies

    ● Coordinate system start-up, winterization, and seasonal transitions

    ● Keep accurate daily records of water usage, rainfall, and repairs

    ● Assist with drainage installations and turfgrass water management projects

    ● Maintain a clean, organized inventory of irrigation tools, parts, and fittings

    ● Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent on scheduling irrigation-related tasks and projects

    ● Train and mentor staff members on irrigation practices, hand watering, and moisture monitoring

    ● Report turf quality concerns and assist in identifying irrigation-related agronomic issues

    ● Support broader course maintenance and special projects as needed

    ● Respond to emergency irrigation issues, including occasional weekend or holiday shifts


    Qualifications:

    ● 1–3 years of experience working with golf course irrigation systems

    ● Ability to read and interpret as-builts, blueprints, and wiring schematics

    ● Familiarity with pump station operation and preventative maintenance

    ● High school diploma or GED required; turf or irrigation coursework a plus

    ● Strong communication skills and team-first attitude

    ● Must be dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented

    ● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

    ● Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, walk long distances, and work in varying weather conditions

    ● Willingness to work early mornings, some weekends, and occasional holidays

    Bogey Hills Country Club was established in 1962 and is located in St. Charles, MO. The golf course maintenance team cares for 100 acres consisting of both warm and cool season turfgrasses.
