FCCC is looking for a motivated individual to lead the operations of our 18-hole golf course. FCCC is a private club established in 1924 and located just 40 miles West of St. Louis, MO. FCCC has bent grass greens and zoysia fairways. Currently 400+ members.
Candidates:
- Have 2 or 4 year degree/certificate in an Agronomy or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years in golf course maintenance with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Have Missouri Non-Commercial Pesticide License (or be able to obtain within 30 days)
- Certification from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) is preferred
- Class A Superintendent or moving toward Class A is preferred

Key Responsibilities
Turf and Landscape Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive turfgrass care programs, including mowing, fertilization, aeration, and pest control
- Oversee the maintenance of greens, fairways, bunkers, and roughs to ensure high-quality playing surfaces
- Manage the health and appearance of trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants throughout the course
Irrigation and Water Management
- Maintain and repair irrigations systems to ensure efficient water use and turf health
- Monitor water usage and implement conservation practices in line with environmental regulations
Staff Supervision and Training
- Hire, train, and supervise maintenance staff to ensure adherence to safety protocols and efficient work practices
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and foster a healthy collaborative team environment
Budgeting and Financial Management
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting expenses for supplies, equipment, and staffing
- Monitor expenditures and implement cost-control measures within budgetary constraints
Regulatory Compliance and Environmental Stewardship
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to chemical applications, water usage, and environmental protection
- Implement sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact, such as integrated pest management and habitat preservation
Qualifications
Education
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Turf Management, Horticulture, Agronomy or a related field
- Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Certifications
- Missouri State Pesticide Applicator’s License
- Certification from the GCSAA is preferred
Skills
- Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, agronomic practices, and pest management in the Transition Zone
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining golf course equipment
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems related to turf health and golf course management
- Manage zoysia fairways and bent grass greens
Additional Duties
- Coordinate with golf professionals and event organizers to prepare the course for tournaments and special events
- Maintain detailed records or maintenance activities, chemical applications and equipment usage
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in golf course management
- Participate in long-term planning for course improvements and renovations
